1 Day Appointed Persons First Aid Course
For businesses employing less than 50 staff the Appointed persons Course is laid down within the 1981 HSE First Aid Regulations to provide adequate cover for the smaller business with a lower level of risk. (Small businesses with a high level of risk of injury, due to the nature of the service provided or the processes employed, may still be required to provide fully certificated Workplace First Aiders. If this raises questions regarding your business please contact us at RB Health & Safety Solutions and we will be happy to guide you to the most appropriate First Aid provision that is commensurate with your needs)
The Appointed Persons course is abbreviated First Aid Course that still covers the most important situations and injuries;
The Principles of First Aid
The Importance of Personal Safety
Assessing the Scene
Assessing the Casualty or Casualties
The Priorities of Treatment for single and multiple casualties
The use of the Recovery Position
The use of CPR covering proper technique, outcomes and consequences
The Assessment of Bleeding, Burns and Broken Bones
The use of First Aid Kit equipment
Treatment priorities for victims of Choking, Seizures, Diabetes, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Chest Pains and a wide range of other conditions and ailments from Sprained Ankles to Head Injuries
For the Appointed Person the emphasis is clearly on the provision of Emergency Treatment. That is the assessment, stabilisation and immobilisation of casualties and the early provision of Emergency Services to maximise the casualty’s chance of survival.
